A one-year-old child was discovered in a car during a drug bust Wednesday afternoon by members of the Sumter County Sheriff’s Special Investigation Squad.

Dontrail Lamaar Bell, 26, of Dunedin, had driven to the Wendy’s in Bushnell to sell heroin and crack cocaine to the undercover drug agent, according to a news release from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

During the arresting process it was discovered that the one-year-old child was in Bell’s vehicle along with two adult passengers identified as Tito Nakai Bell Jr., 20, of St. Petersburg and Phillesia Yashae Mount, 26, also of St. Petersburg. Tito Nakai Bell Jr was promptly arrested for possession of marijuana after admitting to detectives that he had been preparing a marijuana cigar blunt and was found to be in possession of 12 Hydrocodone pills. Phillesia Mount was arrested for possession of marijuana related to 31.9 grams found in plain view next to the diaper bag where she was sitting.

The Sheriff’s Victim Advocate and the Department of Children and Families responded and took custody of the one year old child. The child appeared to be unharmed and was later released to her mother who drove from the St. Petersburg area after being notified.
