Driving range could be home to storage unit

Tree Tops Golf on Rolling Acres Road in Lady Lake could soon be making way for Tree Tops Storage.

A conceptual plan was presented Tuesday in a special Lady Lake Commission meeting for storage facilities to be placed where driving ranges are currently located.

Tree Tops Golf Inc. has submitted a plan for 110,000-square foot mini storage facility on 12.65 acres of property at 176 S. Rolling Acres Road.

Owner Michael Girard said the mini storage units would be accessed directly from Rolling Acres Road. The driving range would be pushed back and would be used by appointment for training purposes. He said it is part of major improvements planned at the popular facility which includes batting cages and mini-golf.

The Town Commission is expected to vote on a final site plan at the Dec. 16 meeting.
