Largest rollback in American history

Congressman Daniel Webster
Congressman Daniel Webster

Since President Trump took office in January, Congress embarked on the largest rollback of regulations in American history. These regulations were approved by President Obama and unelected bureaucrats that targeted businesses he didn’t like, killed jobs and jeopardized your constitutional rights. To date, we have rolled back numerous rules and regulations that would have cost Americans nearly $200 million, stifled jobs and undermined your constitutional rights.

On Wednesday, March 29, I voted to rollback yet another unnecessary rule put in place by President Obama’s administration. S.J. Res 34 was a Federal Communication Commission rule that was a power grab by the FCC to expand its regulatory jurisdiction – and it did so by picking winners and losers in data privacy regulations. This bill did not change the existing protections that protect sensitive consumer information. This regulatory authority lies with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). ISPs are still required under Section 222 of the Communications Act to safeguard confidential data.
