THE VILLAGES RECREATIONAL SENIOR SOFTBALL

DIVISION FOUR ACTION- Nov. 21, 2013- Sal Riggio

 KINGS UPSET FIRST PLACE PACERS 17-9;

PACERS HOLD HALF  GAME LEAD OVER THREE TEAMS

The Kings (16-4) ended the Pacers (16-3) ten game winning streak with a six game winning streak of their own.  Winning pitcher Gary “High Noon” Cooper also led the Kings’ offense with three hits including a double, triple and five rbi’s.

Kevin Murki, Bob Welch and Don Miller topped the Pacers with three hits each.

The standings now show the Kings, Pistons and Cavaliers just a half game behind the Pacers with one regular season game remaining.  The Championship Title is going down to the wire with some controversy concerning the half game lead situation.

CELTIC GREEN MAKES BULLS SEE RED;

McHUGH AND OAR LEAD THE OFFENSE

The Celtics (12-8) won their third game in a row with a 12-9 beating of the Bulls (6-13-1).  Tom McHugh mashed two hits with a double and four rbi’s, and Bill Oar rowed a double, triple and three ribbies for winning pitcher Bill Bonk.  The Celts have now won seven of their last nine games. Concerning injured player George Koblas, manager Don Barry stated: “If we are going to make any kind of run in the playoffs we are going to need George.”

Gary Christensen had a homer and three rbi’s for the Bulls.

SUNS SURVIVE MAVERICKS LATE RALLY;

McLAUGHLIN 2 HOMERS AND 7 RIBBIES

The Mavericks (9-11) stormed back for a 17-0 deficit to score seventeen runs in the last two innings only to fall short 18-17.  The Suns’ (9-10) Jim McLaughlin laced two homeruns with seven ribeye steaks.

Ron Poux, Tom Joseph and Dan Esposito all homered for the Mavs.
