15-year-old from United Kingdom suffers critical injuries in accident

A 15-year-old from the United Kingdom suffered critical injuries in an accident Monday afternoon in Marion County.

Megan Sargeant had been a passenger in a vehicle driven by David Sargeant, 48, also of the United Kingdom. He suffered minor injuries in the accident. A second passenger, 49-year-old Deborah Sargeant also of the United Kingdom, suffered serious injuries. All three were transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

Sargeant had been exiting the driveway of the Silver River State park onto State Road 40 when he pulled into the path of a Chevy Trailblazer driven by Terry Strickland, 44, of Ocala. He and a passenger, 55-year-old Vivian Hogan of Ocala, suffered minor injuries in the crash. They were both transported to Munroe Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

Sergeant was cited for violation of right of way.
