16-year-old from Deland at wheel in Christmas night crash that claimed life of fellow teen

A 16-year-old from Deland was at the wheel of a vehicle in a Christmas night crash that claimed the life of a fellow teen.

Sebastion Santos had been driving a 2003 Ford four-door at 9:15 p.m. Sunday in Volusia County when he lost control of the vehicle, it left the roadway and overturned, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Juana Santos, 19, of Deleon Springs, was proclaimed dead by the Medical Examiner at the scene of the crash.   

Sebastion Santos suffered minor injuries and was transported to Florida Hospital. There were four other passengers in the vehicle. All suffered minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
