16-year-old Inverness girl killed in accident in Citrus County

A 16-year-old Inverness girl was killed in an accident at 1:07 p.m. Wednesday on State Road 44 in Citrus County.

Ashley Elizabeth Wilson failed to stop at a stop sign and drove into the path of a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Anthony Wayne Jones, 51, of Lecanto, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Wilson died at the scene of the accident.

Jones and a passenger, 17-year-old Bret Allen Jones also of Lecanto, suffered minor injuries.
