An 18-year-old was arrested after he drove his car into a backyard in the Village of Lynnhaven.

A Sumter County sheriff’s deputy responded to the accident scene at about 6:15 a.m. Sunday on Willington Way. There the deputy found Nathan Matthew Roma of Wildwood sitting on the curb with personnel from Community Watch standing near him. Roma had driven an Acura RSX into a backyard, the arrest report indicated. Roma told the deputy he had been “hanging out” at Denny’s on Bella Cruz Drive and had been sneaking whiskey into his drink. He failed field sobriety exercises.

He was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and possession of liquor by a person under the age of 21.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $1,500 bond.
