18-year-old killed in two-vehicle collision in Marion County

An 18-year-old was killed Sunday evening in a two-vehicle collision in Marion County.

Guaruin Fuentes-Herrera of Ocala had been a passenger in a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire driven by 19-year-old Romario Fuentes-Salazar of Ocala which collided with a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe at 6:11 p.m. at County Road 464B and NW 115th Avenue, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The driver of the Hyundai Santa Fe, 41-year-old Toni Michelle Rebustillo of Ocala, told an investigator that Fuentes-Salazar had run through a stop sign and his vehicle collided with the left front portion of her vehicle, the report indicated. Three witnesses backed up her account of events.

Fuentes-Salazar was critically injured and transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

Fuentes-Herrera was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Rebustillo suffered minor injuries. A passenger in her vehicle, 37-year-old James Ausherman of Ocala, escaped injury in the accident.
