A 20-year-old Wildwood man was arrested after allegedly snatching a car parked at a recreation center in the Village of Fenney.
A 65-year-old had left his car keys unattended at the swimming pool at the recreation center on Monday. The man had noticed an individual later identified as Daniel Carl Harrison Jr. at the pool and thought he seemed “suspicious,” according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
Harrison was later spotted by a Wildwood police officer driving the Villager’s silver Toyota Camry on County Road 466 at County Road 103. The Wildwood police officer pulled over the vehicle and reported to dispatch that the stolen vehicle had been located.
A deputy arrived on the scene and Harrison admitted to the deputy that he had taken the vehicle. It was determined that Harrison does not have a driver’s license and has never had one.
He was arrested on charges of grand theft and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $2,500 bond.
