Last month, Paul R. Cubeta of 923 St. Andrews Blvd., was arrested on charges of burglary and grand theft. He was taken into custody after he allegedly stole and pawned jewelry belonging to a hospitalized Villager.

The victim had been transported to the hospital by EMS on May 12 after suffering an injury at her home on the Historic Side of The Villages. She had removed her jewelry and gave it to her friend, 43-year-old Charlotte Lynn Gajewsky, asking her to leave it on a table at her home.

When the woman was released from the hospital and returned home, she found the jewelry missing and notified the Lady Lake Police Department. Police discovered that Gajewsky’s boyfriend, had pawned the jewelry on the same day the woman was transported to the hospital.

Cubeta was arrested May 21 on charges of burglary and grand theft.

But the Lady Lake police detective wasn’t done with the case.

Charlotte GajewskyHe interviewed a third party on Monday who said Gajewsky, who resides with Cubeta, had been aware of the jewelry theft from the beginning and had even been along on the trip to the pawn shop.

On Tuesday, Gajewsky was taken into custody on charges of burglary and grand theft. She was booked at the Lake County Jail where bond was set at $4,000.

Cubeta is free on $4,000 bond.
