A longtime Villager is nervous about a three-story “monstrosity” invading her privacy.
She brought her concerns Friday before the Community Development District 6 Board of Supervisors.
Irene Madison has lived for 14 years in the Cherry Vale Villas in the Village of Tall Trees.
Elan Buena Vista, a senior living center on County Road 466, is a new, but unwelcome neighbor, Madison said.
“It has made our lives very difficult. We don’t have any privacy,” she said.
Madison claims some of her neighbors are so upset that they are looking at moving out.
“This has been very unfair. It has been a huge intrusion of our privacy,” she said.
She said when she and her late husband purchased their home, they were told by the sales agent that the property between there home and County Road 466 was zoned “financial.”
“We thought the worst we would get was a bank,” she said.
Madison said she has tried to communicate her concerns to The Villages, but has gotten nowhere.
She suggested that possible remedies could include raising the wall behind her home or putting in new trees to obstruct the visibility of her home.
“We have absolutely nothing to do with the commercial development,” said District Manager Janet Tutt.
She cautioned that there was little CDD 6 could do for Madison.
However, Tutt indicated Sam Wartinbee of District Property Management could reach out to The Villages.
