Thomas A. Dolan, 88, of The Villages, Florida, formerly from Worcester and Sterling, MA and Kennebunk, ME, died peacefully on Saturday, December 8th.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Shirley L. (Grenon) Dolan; two step grandsons, Sean and Michael Dolan and three great-grandchildren. These boys were the love of Tom and Shirley’s life.
Tom was born in Worcester, the son of Walter and Helen (Hoey) Dolan. He graduated from Millbury High School and attended Wilbraham Academy. After high school, Tom joined the United States Navy and served as a Corpsman with the Marines during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He then attended The University of Massachusetts Amherst, receiving a degree in Accounting. Tom worked for the Iandoli and Shaws Super Market chains, retiring in 1993. After retirement he was the Part Time Accountant for Pavement Treatments in Maine.
Tom and Shirley moved to Kennebunk, ME in 1988, enjoying retirement and family. Tom enjoyed traveling and they made trips to both Europe and Asia. The winters were spent in Naples, Florida until 2014 when they moved to The Villages. Tom enjoyed playing golf and was always on the lookout for a good poker game. He was a member of The American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and the Purple Heart group of the Villages. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.
Services will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
