Intoxicated man bragging about Chicago roots arrested at Spanish Springs

Gary Murar

An intoxicated man who had been boasting about his Chicago roots was arrested at Spanish Springs Town Square.

Gary Murar, 49, who lives in The Quarters Apartments in Lady Lake, late Monday night had been “stumbling down the street” and “yelling profanities” on Alverez Avenue near Flipper’s Pizzeria, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. He was tripping over his own feet, staggering and using profane language toward a woman who witnessed the behavior. He told witnesses to “shut up” and told them multiple times, “I’m from Chicago.” He then formed his hand in the shape of a gun, pointed it at witnesses and began yelling, “Bang, bang, bang.”

When police officers arrived on the scene, it was concluded Murar was “extremely intoxicated.”

He was arrested on a charge of disorderly intoxication and booked at the Lake County Jail on $500 bond.
