Woman who was ‘dumpster diving’ arrested at shopping plaza in The Villages

Jessica Lynn Haggard

A woman who claimed she was preparing to go “dumpster diving” was arrested at a shopping plaza in The Villages.

Jessica Lynn Haggard, 34, of Ocklawaha had been spotted in a white pickup at 1:28 a.m. Saturday near the dumpsters at the back entrance to Target at Rolling Acres Plaza, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Haggard and another woman in the vehicle told police they were preparing to go “dumpster diving.”

A check revealed Haggard’s driver’s license was suspended and she has four previous driving while license suspended convictions.

Haggard said she would not allow a search of the truck and lit a cigarette. She “appeared nervous,” the report said.

A K-9 unit responded to the scene and the dog alerted on the vehicle, indicating the likely presence of drugs. A search turned up .6 grams of methamphetamine found in a purse. Haggard admitted it was her purse.

Haggard was arrested for driving on a suspended license. She was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $4,000 bond.
