Neighbor shows up to protest ‘violations’ in Village of Duval

A neighbor showed up Wednesday morning before the Architectural Review Committee to protest “violations” next door in the Village of Duval.

Linda Lane lives on Ridgeway Court in the Rosedale Villas next door to Mary Jo Overland and Mark Corner, who reside at 2339 Ridgeway Court.

It appears that Overland and Corner have applied retroactively to the ARC for approval for stone landscaping work already done at their home.

Lane claimed she had tried to stop the work.

“I want the cement taken up. I called (the District Office) and said they are going to put down concrete,” Lane said of action she took when the work was being done at her neighbors’ home.

She repeatedly stated to the ARC that her neighbors have “two violations” at their home.

Overland and Corner were not present at the ARC meeting when their application was being considered.

Lane was told the ARC is not the forum for complaints about deed compliance violations. She was encouraged to pursue that through Community Standards.

ARC member Don Simson moved that the Overland-Corner application be denied. His motion was seconded and the ARC voted to deny the application.
