Air gun range to be re-constructed thanks to land deal with Developer

A new facility will be built at the Rio Grande Air Gun Range in The Villages, thanks to a $10 land sale by the Developer.

The air gun range was originally built in 1997. As options for constructing a new facility were explored, it was determined more land would be needed for an expansion.

The District approached The Villages of Lake Sumter Inc. to acquire the property adjacent to the gun range’s current location. The Villages of Lake Sumter Inc. agreed to provide a Quit Claim Deed for the requested property. The sale for the quarter-acre property was for $10.

The Amenity Authority Committee was updated Wednesday on the transaction.

The new facility will include more shooting stations.
