A Villages optician called a Marion County sheriff’s deputy for help Monday after his business was targeted by a thief.
When the sheriff’s deputy arrived at Clear View Optix, located at 8481 SE 165th Mulberry Ln. in The Villages, the owner said a man had come into his business and taken three pairs of Ray-Ban sunglasses, each valued at $169. The 58-year-old owner said the man had brought in a pair of eyeglasses and asked him to replace the nose pads. The owner said the man then entered and excited the store several times while he was repairing the glasses, a sheriff’s office report states.
The owner said when he finished repairing the eyeglasses, he noticed the man had left the store. He said he walked over to where the man had been standing and noticed that three pairs of sunglasses were missing.
The owner also told the deputy that the man was the only person in the store at the time so he “knows without a doubt” that he is responsible for the missing items, the report says.
