A special magistrate in Wildwood on Tuesday approved a three-story apartment complex in spite of concerns from Villagers who will be its neighbors.
The four three-story buildings would include 398 units on 21 acres sandwiched between Lowe’s at Trailwinds Village and the back side of the Village of Tamarind Grove. The name of the apartment complex will be the Wilds at Trailwinds.
Village of Tamarind Grove resident Michael Anderson told Special Magistrate Grant Watson that specifically he and his neighbors on Ansley Path are concerned about a massive trash compactor that would be located near their property.
“Noise is the reason for my objection,” Anderson told the special magistrate.
He described a horrendous future of listening to hydraulic pipes, loud engines, car stereo speakers and back-up warning signals from trash haulers.
“I have the right to protect my privacy and enjoy the quality of life I have had since 2011,” Anderson said.
He suggested the trash compactor be moved near a retention pond on the south side of the project.
A neighbor agreed with Anderson’s suggestion to move the trash compactor.
“Doesn’t seem like a big deal to me to move it where Mr. Anderson suggested. Then we won’t be hearing the beep, beep, beep,” said Brian Costello, who purchased his home in 2010 in the Village of Tamarind Grove.
Nick Herring, of the Framework Group from Tampa, represented the developer of the project and said the layout had been designed for “a quick, easy in and out for the hauling company.”
The magistrate agreed to approve the apartment complex, but reminded the Villagers they will have another chance to voice their objections when it goes for final approval before the Wildwood Commission.
