Two Villages Charter School students were among those from the Sumter County School District who attended the International Science and Engineering Fair recently.
Kaitlyn Taylor and Stephanie Nguyen were among seven students who attended the event in Phoenix. The school district was eligible to send the top five projects from the Big Springs Regional Science Fair, release says.
All told, projects from the two Charter School students and five South Sumter High School students – Kindle Hon, Taylor Hubbard, Chloe Johnson, Vrinda Patel and Cheyenne Shirley – competed with those from 1,500 students representing 50 countries.
Students attending the event were presented with a “generous check” from the Tom Leonard Memorial Fund by Karen Leonard and Cheryl Coco. Sponsors on the trip were Monica Vinas and Emily Keeler.
