Charles Parnell

Charles (Charlie) Edward Parnell (92) of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully, June 13, 2019.

Charlie was a WWII veteran having joined the Army in 1944 and serving until 1949.  He was a Non-Commissioned Officer and received the EAME service medal, World War II Victory medal and Occupation of Germany medal and was discharged as a Sergeant 1st Class.  He was a graduate of Wake Forest University where he met the love of his life, Erline Preston who predeceased him by 11 months.  They were married for almost 68 years.  During their life together they lived in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Memphis, Tennessee. They retired to The Villages in 1997 where Charlie enjoyed playing golf, bridge, and singing in the choir at New Covenant Methodist Church.   He will be remembered for his beautiful voice, guitar playing, wonderful story telling and sense of humor.

He is survived by 3 children: Renee McLeod (Eric). of San Diego, CA, Charlene Spiceland (David) of Boston, MA, and Edward Parnell (Briana) of Altamonte Springs, FL; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. The family requests that any donations in his honor to be made to the National MS Society.
