Villager transported to Villages hospital after crashing golf cart into pickup truck

A Villager was transported by ambulance to The Villages Regional Hospital after crashing her golf cart into a pickup truck.

Dina Nizza, 66, of the Village of Alhambra, had been traveling in her 2018 Freedom RXV EZ-Go golf cart at 11:40 a.m. Thursday, turning off Paige Place in Spanish Springs into the parking lot of Veterans Memorial Park when the crash occurred, according to an accident report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

A Villager was transported to The Villages Regional Hospital after this golf cart accident.

Nizza meant to hit the brake, but stepped on the gas pedal instead. The golf cart accelerated, she lost control and it struck a 2005 GMC Sierra pickup owned by Judy Jones of Weirsdale, which had been parked in the parking lot. Jones was sitting in the truck when the crash occurred. She was not injured.

Nizza was ticketed on a charge of careless driving.
