22-year-old Summerfield woman killed when car strikes power pole

A 22-year-old Summerfield woman was killed when her car struck a power pole Saturday night in Marion County.

Sydney Root had been traveling south in her 2001 Toyota Celica on SE 47th Avenue at 8:03 p.m. Saturday when her vehicle left the roadway and struck the pole, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

She had not been wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident, the FHP report indicated.

She was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
