24-year-old denies ownership of drugs, tries to place blame on girlfriend

A K-9 assisted in the arrest of a man found to be in possession of methamphetamine, syringes and buprenorphine hydrochloride on Wednesday afternoon in Lady Lake.

Jarrett Logan Burgwin, 24, of Belleview was pulled over by Lady Lake police at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and Longview Avenue. He was acting “nervous” during the traffic stop, according to the arrest report. He denied having anything illegal in the vehicle, however the K-9 alerted on the car, indicating the presence of drugs. A bag containing the drugs and syringes was found under the cup holder on the console.

Burgwin claimed the bag belonged to a girlfriend and denied any knowledge of the drugs.

He was arrested and booked at the Lake County Jail. He was released after posting $5,000 bond.
