27-year-old passenger dies in Lake County crash

A 27-year-old passenger died Sunday morning following a car crash in Lake County.

Lauren Luckie, 26, of Deland was driving a 2007 Honda SUV eastbound on State Road 44, while 57-year-old Steven Lamar of Deland was driving a 2008 Hyundai westbound on SR- 44, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. For an unknown reason, Luckie traveled into the westbound lanes and the front of her vehicle struck Lamar’s vehicle head on, the report stated. 27-year-old Jay Sanders of Deland, a passenger in Luckie’s vehicle, was not seat-belted at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle.

Sanders died at the scene of the accident. This crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
