29-year-old Summerfield woman arrested after K-9 alerts on her vehicle

A 29-year-old Summerfield woman was arrested after a K-9 alerted on her vehicle during a traffic stop Sunday morning at Kangaroo on U.S. 301 in Oxford.

Amanda Marie Sykes was pulled over at 8:10 a.m. for having an expired tag on her vehicle. A K-9 alerted on her vehicle indicating the presence of drugs. Sykes admitted she had marijuana in a coin holder near the gear shift and a marijuana cigarillo in the center console of her vehicle.

She was arrested on a charge of marijuana possession and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. She was released after posting $1,000 bond.
