3 Amigos gets first win of season

Week 5 Central Florida League games highlighted the league’s parity as 3 games were decided by one run.  3 Amigos got their first win of the season, beating Humana 9-5.  The Amigos defense held Humana scoreless until the top of the seventh inning.  The top of the Humana lineup strung 6 hits, a sacrifice fly, and an error to score 5 runs before a double play ended the game Three Amigos had 3 hits each from Dave Hinkley and Rod Severson, while Manny Sanchez and Jim Rogers added a pair apiece.

Paul Davis defeats Perkins Restaurant

Paul Davis continued their winning ways by defeating Perkins Restaurant 12-11.  Perkins was down 12-7 going into the bottom of the seventh and scored 4 runs on 6 hits to get within one run; but, couldn’t push the tying run across.  Perkins was led by Jim Walter, who was 3 for 3. Bob Jacques, Jim Morton, Ken Link and Bob Strolin added 2 hits each.  Paul Davis’ offense was spread throughout the lineup, with Bob Buchanan, 4 rbis, Chick Cicatelli, Tom Farrell, Jim Moyer, Phil Palma and manager, Jeff Bekasi all having 2 hits.  Bobby DePace went 3 for 3.

Fross & Fross tops Mulberry Integrative Medicine

Fross & Fross won another one run game over Mulberry Integrative Medicine 15-14.  The Fross offense was led by a perfect 3/3 day from Ron Rowe, 10 others had 2 hits each. Mulberry got 4 hits from Paul Justice and John Kushner, while Mike Bernbach, Ed Haith, and Chuck Alexander.

Harlan Insurance beats Arden Jewelers

Harlan Insurance continued its winning ways by besting Arden Jewelers 12-2.  Harlan was powered by Ken Atkinson, Craig Dahlquist, and Bill Landis, who each had 3 hits.  Two hits apiece from Bruce Harlan, Vinny Caso, and Charles Clare helped in the win.  Arden scored their 2 runs in the fifth inning when Jack Meagher smacked a double to drive in the first run and scored on a single from Roy Warter.

Softball’s R Game tops Babiarz Law

Softball’s R Game squeaks by Babiarz Law 13-12.  Down 12-9 going into the bottom of the sevent SRG scored 4 runs to win with Jim Stencil driving in the winning run. Babiarz took the lead in the fifth with a 5 run outburst.  Babiarz was led by Pat Perkins and Doug Nantais, who went 3/3.  Bud Ramsey, Bob Winder,Felix Rodriguez, and John Plunkard all had 2 hits in the loss.  SRG’s offense was led by 3 hits each from Al Mahar, Scott Marshall, and Bill Dunkley.  Two hits came from:  Bill Nisbet, Don Mulneix, Ed Krisha, Jack Marx, and Jim Stencil.

IHOP prevails in slugfest

The day’s last game was a slug fest between IHOP and Buffalo Crossing with IHOP prevailing 22-19.  Buffalo Crossing’s offense was led by the bats of Joe DeGorge, who was 4/4 with 4 rbis, Joe Cataldi 3/3 and a sacrifice fly and 6 rbis, and, Jim Harrison 3/3.  IHOP got 4 hits each from the first 3 men in their lineup:  Bob Cramer, Duane Broschat, and Larry Williams.  Jim Lambert added 3 hits as did Dan MacPherson.
