39-year-old Villager arrested on felony drug charge

A 39-year-old Villager was arrested on felony drug charge after he was pulled over at 4 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 301 and County Road 462.

Gregory Scott Wells of Lancaster Lane was spotted by Sumter County sheriff’s deputy driving. Wells was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the arrest report.

When deputies approached Wells to ask him for his driver’s license, they noticed a clear cylindrical container in the bottom driver side door pocket, the arrest report indicated. It turned out to be marijuana. Further search turned up a small green pill container which contained a several small packages of a crystal substance. Deputies also found a pack of cigarettes in the cup holder of the vehicle, and in the pack of cigarettes were a small blue straw with a crystal substance inside.

He was arrested on a felony charge possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). He was also arrested on charge of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $4,000 bond.
