51-year-old Ocala woman struck and killed while crossing roadway

A 51-year-old Ocala woman was struck and killed while crossing a roadway early Thursday morning.

Dorothy Jean Leonowicz had been crossing County Road 326 at the Marion-Levy County line at 3:15 a.m. when she was struck by a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Anthony Curtis Grimes, 28, of Williston, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

She was transported to Shands Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 4:54 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
