52-year-old woman critically injured in Marion County crash

A 52-year-old Titusville woman was critically injured in an accident Tuesday afternoon in Marion County.

The woman, who was not identified pending notification of next of kin, was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Her 2003 Hyundai Sonata had been traveling westbound at 3:25 p.m. on State Road 40, just west of NE 231st Avenue. She had been trying to pass a vehicle ahead of her, but ran off the roadway. She then overcorrected and went back on the roadway and into the path of a Dodge Ram pickup driven by Stanley J. Swartout, 66, of Belleview. The front of the pickup struck the center of the woman’s vehicle. Swartout and two passengers, 28-year-old Steven Mathew Swartout of Ocala and 68-year-old Linda Swartout of Ocala, were all transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
