58-year-old man dies after pickup overturns, strikes tree in Lake County

A 58-year-old man died after his pickup overturned Wednesday afternoon in Lake County.

David Cheek of Deland had been at the wheel of a 2003 Ford pickup at 1 p.m. on County Road 42 at State Road 44 when it left the roadway, he overcorrected and it overturned, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The truck struck a tree and he was ejected from it.

He was pronounced dead by the Medical Examiner.

The report noted he had not been wearing his seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
