Dennis Michael Popma is a registered sex offender in Oregon as the result of a conviction in 2000 on a charge of attempt to commit the crime of sexual abuse, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Popma has a requirement to register for life in Oregon. He also has a requirement to register in Florida as a sex offender.

Popma last registered as a sexual offender in Oregon on April 27, 2016.

According to Popma’s registration requirements in Oregon, he is required to report to the law enforcement agency of the county in which he is moving, no later than 10 days after he moves.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement that Popma obtained a Florida driver’s license June 15, 2016 with an address of 2392 Travis Place in the Village of Duval. According to the Driver and Vehicle Information Database, Popma surrendered his Oregon driver’s license the same day.

Popma failed to provide the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles his sex offender status on his Florida driver’s license statement of application. The Sumter County Property Appraiser’s website shows the address of 2392 Travis Place, The Villages, purchased by Popma in February 2016 and it appears he previously owned the same piece of property in July 2010.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center.
