70-year-old Villager arrested after allegedly stealing figurine at Belk

A 70-year-old Villager was arrested at 3:45 p.m. Friday after he allegedly stole a figurine and a shirt from Belk.

Joseph Jerome Giannone, from the Village of  De La Vista, entered the store and picked up a figurine and some Under Armour shirts, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

He entered the dressing room and allegedly concealed one of the shirts and the figurine on his person. A loss prevention officer stopped him when he attempted to leave the store.

Giannone was arrested on a charge of petit theft.

He was booked at the Lake County Jail and later released after posting $1,000.
