$7,000 in jewelry reported stolen from home in Village of Piedmont

The theft of $7,000 in jewelry from a home in the Village of Piedmont is under investigation by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

The theft at the home on Windsor Lane was reported Monday to the sheriff’s office.

The 71-year-old woman who owned the jewelry said she and her husband had gone out to dinner on Dec. 23 and she opted not to wear her jewelry. She left the jewelry on the kitchen counter.

When they returned, the door was discovered open between the kitchen and the garage. The jewelry was missing from the countertop.

She reported that she and her husband had moved into the home in October and she has had an “uneasy feeling” about someone entering her home, the sheriff’s office report noted.

She said she had not reported the missing jewelry earlier because of the holidays coming and family coming into town, the report noted.
