71-year-old pilot trauma alerted from scene of plane crash in Ocklawaha

A 71-year-old pilot was trauma alerted from the scene of plane crash Thursday evening in Ocklawaha.

Herb Francis Clark Jr. of Weirsdale had flown his small white plane out of Hobby Hill Air Strip in Weirsdale, according to an incident report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The plane, which had about 15 to 20 gallons of fuel, crashed nose first in a wooded area near the 7400 block of South Highway 314A.

Clark was trauma alerted to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

A Federal Aviation Administration official responded to the scene in the daylight hours Friday to conduct an investigation. The U.S. Forestry Service is also involved in the investigation.
