A 72-year-old customer is also facing a charge after an altercation with a McDonald’s employee.
Kahlil Malik Caswell, 19, had been arrested this past Sunday after he engaged in an argument with the customer in the parking lot of the restaurant on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 in Lady Lake.
Jarold Paul Nelesen Jr. had ordered a sundae and complained to Caswell that it had not been prepared properly, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. He remade the sundae, but Nelesen was still not satisfied.
“It’s just ice cream,” Caswell reportedly told him.
Caswell’s manager then told him to “watch his attitude,” the report indicated. He became upset and threw a broom and dustpan. He was told to clock out and go home for the night.
Nelesen told police that from the parking lot, Caswell motioned for him to come outside. Nelesen said that Caswell “got in his face” and then pulled a knife which he began to swing back and forth. Nelesen lunged at Caswell to try to take the knife away. Then he realized “it wasn’t worth it” and went back inside to tell the manager to call police.
Caswell was taken into custody and booked at the Lake County Jail.
Caswell provided a written statement and said he wanted to see Nelesen prosecuted for his role in the altercation. A police officer went to Nelesen’s residence and issued a citation to him. The case will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.
Both men have been banned from McDonald’s.
