A woman had entered Kylie’s Closet on April 29 and walked out with a pair of sunglasses with the pricetag still attached, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. Store owner Petia Modarelli retrieved the sunglasses and went back into the store and reviewed surveillance footage. The surveillance showed the woman shoplifting merchandise including Sterling Silver rings, necklaces, and earrings with a total value of $424.91.

A detective developed a flyer using the surveillance images and distributed it through local news media and social media. The detective received information about the possible identity of the suspect and on Tuesday put together a photo lineup for Modarelli and a store employee. Both identified Villager Sara Alexander as the suspect.

She was arrested Wednesday on a charge of grand theft and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. She was released after posting $2,000 bond.

Earlier this month, another Villager was sentenced in the theft of items from the same jewelry store.
