Evelyn Craig McClung, 76, of The Villages, FL, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2016 at the Ocala Regional Hospital. She was the wife of James H. McClung for 40 years.
Born in Sterling, Scotland on May 19, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Jack Craig and Jean Chisolm Craig. Evelyn worked for the British Foreign Office. In the early 1970’s she was assigned to Washington, DC, where she met Jim. After they were married on September 20, 1975, she worked for the International Monetary Fund in Washington for the rest of her career.

After Evelyn and Jim retired they moved to The Villages in 2000, where they were active in the Scottish American Club. They were also members of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, where they participated in many water rescue missions. She became a US Citizen in 2009.

Evelyn is remembered for her love of travel and her generosity to family and friends. At social gatherings she was a lively story teller. It was Evelyn who proposed marriage to Jim. He says it was the best thing that ever happened to him.

Evelyn will be deeply missed by her husband, her siblings in Somerset, England, Gordon Craig and Doreen Craig Lord and their spouses, as well as her nieces Kate and Carol. She was predeceased by her sister, Betty Cooney. She will also be missed by her Villages neighbors and many friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 from 2 –  3 p.m. at The Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd., The Villages, FL 32159 followed by a Funeral Service at 3:00 PM.
