88-year-old driver fatally injured after hitting palm tree in Citrus County

An 88-year-old driver was killed after his vehicle hit a palm tree in Citrus County on Monday morning.

Richard H. Turner, 88, of Homosassa was driving northbound on Suncoast Boulevard near West Green Acres Street in the inside lane when he lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. Turner entered the west shoulder, collided with two separate ditches and their accompanying driveways before finally colliding with a palm tree, the report stated.

Turner was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries.
