92-year-old woman dies in two-vehicle collision on U.S. 301 in Sumter County

A 92-year-old woman died in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday morning on U.S. 301 in Sumter County.

Nanette Carter Evans of Webster had been a passenger in a Lincoln Towncar driven by 77-year-old Billy E. Evans of Webster, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Towncar had been northbound on U.S. 301 south of County Road 652D at 10:06 a.m. when it veered into the path of a southbound Chevy S-10 pickup driven by 75-year-old Marvin Huggins also of Webster.

Nanette Evans died at the scene of the collision. Billy Evans suffered critical injuries and was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center. Huggins suffered critical injuries and was transported to Bayonet Point Medical Center.
