Adrienne Jago of Leesburg, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, July 7, 2017. Born in Glouster,Ohio on December 23, 1932, Adrienne was the loving daughter of Stephen and Elizabeth Craig and sister to Samual Craig, Carl Craig, Icyle Feltman, and half sister to Errett Johnson.
After graduating from Glouster High School in 1950, Adrienne married William J. Elliott and settled in McConnelsville, Ohio where they started their family and raised six beautiful children that were the light and love of her life; Stephen Elliott (JoAnn Long), Teresa Davis (husband Don and Children Amy West and Tim Youngs);Thomas Elliott (Wife Phillipa and Children Adrienne Elliott, Phillipa Elliott, Thomas Elliott, Jeffrey(Elliott), Craig Elliott (Wife Cindy and Children Chad Elliott, Melissa Elliott, Heather Elliott), William Jeffrey Elliott (Children Katelyn Elliott, Rachel Elliott, Fiona Elliott), and Barbara Barr (Children Mary Castillo,Teresa Barr, Nicholas Barr).
Adrienne was born into a musical family, and it was no surprise that she developed a love for music and played the piano and organ at churches and events throughout her life. The Elliotts attended McKendree United Methodist Church where Adrienne played the organ for Sunday Service for years. She enjoyed sharing that love and gift of music with her children and grandchildren year after year as the family gathered around to sing for one seasonal event or another.
The Worthy Matron for the Morgan County Eastern Stars, Adrienne had a circle of close friends that spanned decades and included dinner parties, card club, and anything else that was important to her community and family. Married to Kermit Lewis in 1971, she became stepmother to Kermits 5 children, whom she loved dearly.
Kermit, Adrienne and her children moved to Springfield Massachusetts and after a number of years in Mass, Kermits career moved them to Huntsville, Alabama in 1980. The Lewis home was not a quiet place and played host to family and friends alike. The pool always warm, and the drinks always cold which ensured the spare bedrooms stayed occupied and kitchen alive with tasty treats, and lots of laughter. Easter egg hunts for the grandchildren were a yearly event, and nobody left without indulging in homemade ice cream and if you were you really lucky, some homemade fudge.
Kermit and Adrienne moved back to McConnelsville, Ohio. in 1991. After Kermits death in 1994, Adrienne reconnected and, married Arther ( Tubby) Jago and retired to Leesburg, Florida where he passed away in 2000. Consistent if nothing else, Adrienne’s life in Florida was also filled with good music, food, friends, and family. She happily made potato salad for those that came to love it over the years, and if you chopped some vegetables to help the chances of getting a bite while it was still warm were pretty high. Her sense of humor and laugh were adored by all and her candid and no-nonsense approach to most things were the hallmarks of a life well lived.
Adrienne Craig Jago was preceded in death by husbands William Elliott, Kermit Lewis, Tubby Jago and son, Craig Elliott. She is survived by five children, her 15 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, July 10th, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel, Leesburg. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, July 11th, at 2 p.m. also at Beyers Chapel. Interment will be at McConnelsville Cemetery, McConnelsville, OH.
