A man who was detained and questioned in last week’s robbery at Citizens First Bank at Mulberry Grove has been ruled out as a suspect.

His alibi checked out, said Corporal George Wallace of Marion County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Investigations/Robbery Unit.

The bank had been robbed by a man wearing a “Texas” T-shirt at about 2:30 p.m. Aug. 13. At about 5:30 p.m. that same day, Lady Lake police surrounded Suntrust Bank located at 101 LaGrande Blvd. on the Historic Side of The Villages, taking a man into custody. He was turned over to Marion County law enforcement.

However, after a check of video surveillance from some unnamed Lady Lake businesses, the man has been ruled out as a suspect.

Therefore, the bank robber is still being sought. If you have any information on his identification, call (352) 732-9111 or you can phone anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers of Marion County at 368-STOP or 368-7867.
