American Heroes Walk in March will benefit Veterans Village

The American Heroes Walk will take place on Saturday, March 5 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.  This event is hosted by Habitat for Humanity of Lake-Sumter and will be located at the Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Leesburg.  The event is free and open to the public. RoMac Lumber will donate $5 to Habitat’s Veterans Village for every person who takes the short lap around the lake.  The pathway is paved, so it is accessible to anyone who wants to take a stand for our Veteran Heroes.  Participants will also receive a patriotic pin.

In addition to the walk there will be other activities throughout the day such as local vendors, tiny hour tours, a corn hole challenge with chances to win prizes, and a raffle with a chance to win a grill.  At 11 a.m. there will be a special Veterans presentation on stage followed by local BBQ for sale.  All proceeds from The American Heroes Walk benefit Habitat of Lake-Sumter’s Veterans Village.  The Veterans Village is a 22 home planned unit development in the heart of downtown Leesburg specifically designed for veterans and active military families.

Habitat for Humanity of Lake-Sumter, Florida is your local Hometown Habitat serving individuals in Lake and Sumter Counties with access and opportunity to affordable housing solutions.  For more event information, to donate, or learn more about Veterans housing contact Danielle Stroud at danielle@habitatls.org or 352-483-0434 ext. 133.
