Anne G. Gaughan, age 86, passed away at the Cornerstone Hospice House in The Villages on Monday, December 1, 2014. Anne was born on May 6, 1928, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Edward and Annie (Hand) Cavanaugh. She attended Boston Public Schools and after graduating high school married James J. Gaughan (USCG, Retired) on May 7, 1949. Anne lived in Boston and New Bedford, moved to New Jersey for a short time, and returned to live in the Boston area until retiring with her husband to Lady Lake, Florida, in 1987. Before becoming a full-time homemaker, Anne worked in the manufacturing industry and was a machinist for the American Can Company. Anne will be lovingly remembered by her adoring family and the many friends she made everywhere she went. She touched everyone with her genuine warmth, her smile, and her wonderful sense of humor. She is survived by her husband James of Lady Lake; her daughter Anne Merrifield (and husband Dennis) of Dallas, Georgia; Patricia Gaughan of Lady Lake; and Richard Gaughan (and wife Susan) of Braintree, Massachusetts; seven grandchildren, James Timilty (and wife Michele White), Julie Timilty, Joseph Merrifield, Patricia Merrifield, Paul Coutoumas, Daniel Gaughan and Joseph Gaughan; and one great-grandchild Alexandria Timilty. Services are private and internment will be at a later date in Massachusetts.
