The man who is suspected of robbing the Citizens First Bank at Mulberry Grove this past summer is being held at the Marion County Jail.
Randall Lee Williford, 27, was booked at the jail Thursday evening.
He had been wanted on warrants charging him with the August 2014 robbery at Citizens and the attempted robbery Feb. 24 of the Wells Fargo bank in Lady Lake.
He was taken into custody by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Investigations Unit along with the Fugitive Apprehension Unit. He was hiding in a closet at a residence in Umatilla. A K-9 Unit located him.
After being taken into custody, Williford confessed to committing an attempted robbery on a person at the Murphy Gas Station located at 17840 SE 112th Court Road in The Villages on Aug. 11, 2014. Williford also confessed to the Wells Fargo attempted robbery in February.
Williford admitted that his motive for these robberies was to support his methamphetamine addiction.
He had been jailed in Marion County last year on charges including dealing in stolen property, grand theft of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He had been released from the jail on Jan. 21 of this year.
