Assault rifle pried out of Tavares Police Department patrol car

An assault rifle was pried out of a secure gun lock of a Tavares Police Department patrol car, according to a news release from the law enforcement agency issued Sunday.

The patrol car had been parked at the officer’s residence in Eustis.

The short-barreled assault rifle was pried out of a secure gun lock. A report was field with the Eustis Police Department. The Tavares Police Department is also investigating the incident.

The Tavares Police Department is seeking any information regarding the theft. Those with information can call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
