Athena NY Diner closes its doors in Lady Lake

A former Spanish Springs Town Square restaurant that moved to Lady Lake, has closed its doors at the new location.

The Athena NY Diner has shut down at U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and Griffin View Drive.

The restaurant was owned and operated by Christopher and Elena Kitinos who had also operated Athens NY restaurant in Spanish Springs. The restaurant left Spanish Springs in November 2015 and reopened in Lady Lake in 2016 under the name Athena NY Diner.

A sign at the building indicates it is for sale or lease.

A number of restaurants have been operated at the location.

Texas Stockyards had been operated by a Villages couple and enjoyed a three-year run at that location. Prior to Texas Stockyards, that building had been home to the Silver Cricket restaurant.
