Bad night for incumbent Lake County commissioners, Lake County Supervisor of Elections

It was a bad night for incumbent Lake County commissioners.

Longtime commissioners Jimmy Conner and Welton Cadwell were defeated Tuesday night in their respective GOP primary races. After a bitter campaign, Conner was being outdistanced by political newcomer Wendy Breeden.

Late in the campaign, Commissioners Leslie Campione, at her own expense, launched a series of robo-calls, stopping short of endorsing Breeden, but lashing out at Conner.

Meanwhile, Josh Blake topped Cadwell. Blake is a former staffer for state Rep. Marlene O’Toole.

However, incumbent Commissioner Tim Sullivan escaped challenges from Tim Loucks and Mike Levine.

Technical glitches at the Lake County Supervisor of Elections office delayed reporting of results, only heightening the drama.
