Barbara Ann ‘Bobbie’ McCarty

Barbara Ann “Bobbie” McCarty, 82, of The Villages, FL, passed away at her family’s home on February 8, 2017, following extended illness.

Bobbie was born June 16, 1934 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Margaret & Irvy Poche’. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in New Orleans and then worked as an executive secretary, where she met and married the late Alfred C. Taylor of Baytown, Texas. They raised a family of three daughters and then later moved to Houston, Texas. They were married 25 years prior to her husband’s death.

She was a lifelong tap dancer well into her 70’s. She also loved music, reading, home decorating, sewing, playing cards and many family dogs throughout her life. She was a breast cancer survivor and instilled in her daughters not only her passions, but also her example of great strength and courage.

She was a beautiful and vivacious woman and made many lifetime friends who loved and will miss her.

She is also predeceased by her second husband, C.H. “Bumpy” McCarty, who passed away in 2015. They were married 32 years and had moved to The Villages in 2013. They were members of The Church of Christ.

Bobbie will always be dearly loved, honored and greatly missed by her daughters Melody Key & Leslee Connally of The Villages, Florida; Kim Taylor of Kenner, Louisiana and her stepdaughter, Debbie Rushing of Richardson, Texas.
