Barbara L. O’Connor, 69, of The Villages, Florida passed away June 28, 2014 at Leesburg Regional Medical Center Leesburg, Florida. She was born on August 8, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles Hoynoski and Arline Heisler. Barbara will be remembered by her family as a great wife, mother, and grandmother. She will also be remembered by many for designing beautiful jewelry and accessories. She was very talented at making various crafts. She also enjoyed cooking, playing golf, and playing card games. Barbara is survived by her husband, Peter J. O’Connor, The Villages, FL son, Peter J. O’Connor, Jr., Middletown, NJ, daughter, Shari Christiansen, Alpharetta, GA, and five grandchildren, Ryan O’Connor, Tore Christiansen, Owen Christiansen, Kyle O’Connor, and Corin Christiansen. The family will receive friends at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services on Wednesday from 3:00PM – 5:00PM. Friends may gather after the service at Hibiscus Rec Center, The Villages from 6-8. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Frank Calhoun Memorial Scholarship Fund and American Heart Association.
